Eternal Life is to Know the Father

Abide in Him

Abide is a Catholic Way of Life centered on Christ living in you
through the sacraments, prayer, and daily surrender.

Abiding in Christ in the Eucharist has the power to heal our inner wounds that cause us to sin, and bring us to new Life in Christ.

"If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love." John 15:10

The world today has made peace with sin. Even many Christians believe they could never stop sinning, because the Bible says that "all have sinned". So why even try to stop, right?

Christ did not come to simply forgive us while leaving us enslaved to sin. He came to free us from all our sins, strengthen us to stop sinning, and share His life with us.

“If any one love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and will make our abode with him.” John 14:23

Surrender Your Cross in the Eucharist

I used to think that offering up our suffering was something like spiritual bonus points kinda, I could "offer it up" but it was extra. God loved me and I was going to heaven anyway right?
But is "getting to heaven when we die" the only goal of christianity? Picking the right side, the right beliefs, the right way of thinking; is this what gets us to heaven anyway?
What if we could live in heaven on earth, right here, right now? What if Eternal Life wasn't just a "after we die one day" thing?
Jesus says: Eternal Life is to know You, the one true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent" John 17:3.
I believe that the goal of the Christian Catholic life is to give up sin, endure the cross, and become one with Christ, right here in this world. We do this through sacrifice and surrender, particularly in the eucharist.
In the Eucharist, we unite our crosses to Christ’s sacrifice and allow our suffering to become an offering with Him. We meditatively place our lives, our desires on the altar with the bread and wine. Christ joins our offering to His sacrifice. This offering of ourselves placed with the bread and wine become the Body of Christ, which we receive, renewing our bodies and Christ abides in us.
When we offer our deepest desires to God, even the sinful ones, He heals us from them but we have to endure the trials.
“Wherein you shall greatly rejoice, if now you must be for a little time made sorrowful in divers temptations; that the trial of your faith, much more precious than gold which is tried by the fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honour at the appearing of Jesus Christ.”
This is the faith that made the early Church fearless: Christians so surrendered to Christ, so free from the rule of sin, and so alive in Him that even persecution and martyrdom could not make them turn back.

John 15:5

"Those who feed on Christ in the Eucharist need not wait until the hereafter to receive eternal life; they already posses it on earth, as the first-fruits of a future fullness which will embrace man totality."

— Saint Pope John Paul II -2003

If Saint John Paul II is right, then nothing in our lives matters more than a real lived union with Jesus Christ. Not our learned knowledge, not our talents, not our efforts, not even our ministries. Everything begins with Christ Himself.

Yet many Catholics like myself, spend our lives learning about Him without ever learning how to truly abide in Him. We know the prayers, we know the stories, and we know the teachings, but we still find ourselves struggling with the same sins, the same fears, and the same distance from God that we have always known.

Abide is meant to explore that union with Christ. What it is, how it begins, and what happens when we truly allow Him to dwell within us.
