Saint John the Baptist lived for one purpose: to prepare the way for Jesus Christ. He left behind the comforts of ordinary life for the wilderness, clothed himself simply, lived on locusts and wild honey, and called the people of Israel to repentance. Along the banks of the Jordan River he baptized those who came to him, until one day Christ Himself stepped into those waters.
John had gathered followers of his own, but he never confused attention with his mission. When Jesus appeared, John willingly stepped aside. “He must increase, but I must decrease.” Those words capture the humility of a saint who knew that his entire life was meant to point beyond himself toward Christ.
Our design places those words over a river scene inspired by the Jordan, where John preached, baptized, and ultimately encountered the One he had spent his life preparing the world to receive. It is a simple reminder for every Catholic: whatever gifts, influence, or opportunities we are given, the goal is ultimately the same.
